Why Do Geralt’s Eyes Turn Black In The Witcher?

Geralt, a granite-muscled mutant monster hunter, strives to find his place in a world where people are more malevolent than demonic creatures. The show has taken Netflix audiences by a wave of mystic fantasy and a fascination with otherworldly-themed characters. In season 1 of The Witcher, the protagonist’s, Geralt’s, eyes were dark, and his body language was angrier than in the other fights during his confrontation with the Kikimore.

This is because Geralt was under the influence of a potion, which is quite frequent in The Witcher universe. Geralt has access to a variety of potions and elixirs that improve certain senses and skills based on his requirements.

Because witchers had to undergo a mutation process to get stronger and quicker so they could continue doing what witchers do, they can drink potions and not die trying and instead enjoy the benefits they provide.

The black eyes are his pupils entirely widened, enabling him to have better vision in the dark, which corresponds to the setting in the series’ opening scene. Potions can also improve speed, endurance, healing, and other attributes, depending on what is required to defeat each enemy.

Let’s dive deeper into interesting facts about The Witcher

Is A Witcher Immortal?

Building on the last paragraph, Geralt isn’t merely approaching a biblical age; if he were to abandon his chosen career, he’d easily outlive them because Witchers are technically immortal. It’s similar to Tolkien’s elves. He will continue to thrive and grunt monosyllabic catchphrases as long as he is not struck down.

But that is the problem. Witchers never live long enough to demonstrate their immortality since they intentionally seek danger as part of their work. Geralt would easily outlast his friends like Jaskier if he decided not to hunt any more monsters and no humans assaulted him. Probably all of his descendants as well.

Does The Witcher Code Actually Exist?

Witchers are said to follow a “code” that prevents them from misusing their magical abilities. In general, the populace is aware of their code, and it helps that Vesemir tried his best to inculcate a modicum of respect in his students, but in a much more precise sense, the code is wholly made up.

Geralt demonstrates time and again that he is a man led by some moral north star, but the code itself is nebulous enough to be completely meaningless. In actuality, the code is frequently employed as a ruse to save Witchers from having to deal with circumstances in which they have little interest.

Is Geralt Human?

Don’t be deceived by his resemblance to popular British star Henry Cavill; Geralt isn’t human. Not any longer. The Witcher-ization Process (not an official phrase, though it should be) that each potential Witcher goes through alters them on both an emotional and physical basis, irreversibly mutating them into something new.

And that’s exactly what they are: mutants. Humans are the only ones who consider them mutants, in a tragic twist of destiny that perfectly mimics reality. They are just considered people by every other race that roams the earth. In both circumstances, the terms are intended to be insulting.

Is Geralt Of Rivia From Rivia?

The White Wolf is a guy of few words. Therefore, it’s amusing how many of those few syllables are total fabrications. In this case, it is more of a pen name than a continuing falsehood. The thing is, Geralt of Rivia is not “of Rivia.”

Vesemir, Geralt’s lethal tutor/father figure, insisted on each of his students selecting a surname that would make them look more likable, more human. Surprisingly, “of Rivia” was not Geralt’s initial option. In the novels, our beloved grump attempted to pass himself off as Geralt Roger Eric du Haute-Bellegarde before being thwarted by Vesemir.

The Second Witcher Medallion

Each Witcher wears a medallion around their neck that serves as a supernatural card that allows them to avoid the bouncer that is life. The medallions are significant since they provide proof of a Witcher’s trials and denote where that Witcher was taught.

Not only that, but the medallions are one of the few surviving memories of a Witcher’s death, and are frequently maintained in an honored spot at Kaer Morhen. Geralt, on the other hand, pawned it off for a task.

In his defense, it was to deceive someone into thinking Geralt of Rivia was dead. The pendant he presently wears was a gift from Ciri, who earned it by slaying Bonhart, another Wolf School member.

Can The Witcher Get Sick?

They have extraordinary strength, speed, and reflexes, as well as being highly resistant to sickness, immune to many poisons and potions, and have a fast recovery. Only a magical strike, such as when Yennefer enchanted Geralt to attack her enemies, may really incapacitate him. In such instances, he turns to potions to heal himself.

Organisms that dwell in colder areas must consume a lot of energy just to stay warm. Witchers that live in cold areas are at risk of not eating enough because they already expend a lot of energy in warm temperatures.

Why Did Ciri’s Eyes Turn Green?

Ciri’s more mature appearance and her well-groomed dark brows are the key reasons for this. Allan ultimately reveals why her character’s appearance has altered dramatically due to the color of her brows.

It’s been a couple of years since the first season of the Netflix series debuted. Allan had recently turned 17 at the time of filming and press. Allan is now 20 years old due to the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) constraints and shooting the new season. This is one of the main reasons Ciri looks so different from Cintra’s initial young Lion Cub.

Conclusion

Witchers can live to be beyond 150 years old, but they are likely to live much longer. Witchers are frequently considered with mistrust and distrust by the public. This is largely due to the potion they have to take for their endurance and longevity.
