Is Star Wars Really Worth Watching?

“May the Force be with you”.

These words come to mind without fail when you hear of Star Wars. An avid fan or not, Star Wars is no stranger to most folks with even the slightest exposure to pop culture and contemporary entertainment. But if you have not yet delved into the Star Wars trilogy, chances are you might be wondering if it is worth your time. Rest assured as there are many reasons why you would want to watch Star Wars.

The franchise is considered to be one of the most famous ones in the world, and rightfully so. With a worth of trillions of dollars, Star Wars is known to be a cult favorite. George Lucas, the director of the original trilogy, made sure that the sci-fi elements of the films were captured in an apt fashion using a profound storyline, well-developed characters, and eye-catching visuals.

A Catchy Storyline

The story has all the elements ranging from the classic hero-villain dichotomy to the captivating action scenes that keep the viewer hooked. The reason that Star Wars transcends beyond entertainment value is because of the complexity of the storyline and the subnarratives embedded within it.

The mood and tone are variable and consequently, appear to appeal to a wide range of audiences. Suspense, conflict, adventure, and occasional humor are all tied together in a splendid concoction waiting to be consumed.

Relatable Characters

In addition to the splendid plot, the characters are wonderfully crafted to make it easy for the viewers to resonate with them. Be it the Baby Yoda memes or the love tragedy of Padmé Amidala, there is something for everyone to relate to. Being able to form connections with the characters is perhaps one of the most obvious reasons for Stars Wars’ sustained notoriety and fame.

When looking at the Prequel Trilogy, Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One, manages to be relatable despite his esteemed position because his struggles are humanized. A personal favorite is Obe-Wan Kenobi who is a respected Jedi but still seems chill enough to hang out with.

Enchanting Visuals

The design techniques hold the interest of a myriad of viewers in addition to the storyline. Through the innovative use of 3D graphics, computer-generated imagery (CGI), and special effects, the series becomes a treat to watch even for those who are reluctant to like the plot or characters.

The smooth delivery and technical mastery of the franchise can’t be denied. However, it is not just CGI that makes the visuals appealing. The use of real props and locations makes the aesthetic experience surreal and integrative at the same time. Oh, and the digitally-added lightsabers during fight scenes are yet another plus point!
